PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of increasing cooling capacity by installing an auxiliary heat exchanger apart from an outdoor heat exchanger. SOLUTION: In an outdoor unit, the auxiliary heat exchanger 6 and a first open/close valve 7 are connected in series between a four-way valve 2 and the outdoor heat exchanger 3 through a pipe, and a bypass passage 8 having a second open/close valve 9 is connected between the four-way valve 2 and the auxiliary heat exchanger 6. In the cooling operation, the first open/close valve 7 is opened and the second open/close valve 9 is closed to use the auxiliary heat exchanger 6 as a condenser. In the heating operation, the first open/close valve 7 is closed and the second open/close valve 9 is opened to bypass the auxiliary heat exchanger 6 through the bypass passage 8. The auxiliary heat exchanger 6 is installed, for example, between an air blow fan and an air blow port forward of the fan separately from the outdoor heat exchanger 3 to improve the ventilation states of both heat exchangers 3 and 6 so as to increase heat exchange amount and increase cooling capacity.
