PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that, in traveling control of a vehicle for shortening the braking distance at a braking time in particular and preventing spinning at that time, six physical quantities representing the movement of the vehicle including the longitudinal velocity, lateral velocity, vertical velocity, a pitch angle, roll angle, lateral slip angle have to be measured, and the braking power of each wheel and the damping coefficient of a shock absorber of each suspension have to be controlled, and a number of sensors to directly measure the velocity and the angle have to be installed with an increased load on manufacture.
SOLUTION: Four radar sensors for direct measurement of the longitudinal and the lateral velocity are used. Furthermore, the vertical velocity, a pitch angle, roll angle and lateral slip angle are indirectly measured by the output of the radar sensor. Three or four radar sensors are used to measure the six physical quantities including the longitudinal velocity, vertical velocity, a pitch angle, roll angle and lateral angle. Moreover, two radar sensors are used to measure three physical quantities including the longitudinal velocity, lateral velocity and a lateral slip angle.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
|
