PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormal abrasion of a valve of a discharge control valve for a high pressure pump supplying high pressure fuel to a common rail in a diesel engine equipped with a common rail type fuel injection device, even if low viscosity fuel is used. SOLUTION: Whole part(s) or at least a contact face 24a and/or a contact face 25a of a seat 24 and/or a valve 25 of an opening/closing valve 23 disposed to the discharge control valve 20 for the high pressure pump 10 is/are made of material whose base is cobalt and/or nickel.
