The tire applicator (10) for attaching a friction grip cord layer (34) to drainwater shaft height adjustment rings (12) has a guide (24) for feeding the grip material cord around the annular section of the rings, to define a loop around each ring. It has a holder for holding the loop around the ring. There is a rotary drive (20) for rotation of the guide feed (24) and-or the holder.
