NEAR-FIELD LIGHT GENERATING ELEMENT, NEAR-FIELD LIGHT RECORDING APPARATUS, AND NEAR-FIELD LIGHT MICROSCOPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of a near-field light recording apparatus and a near-field light microscope using a near-field light generating element by improving the optical efficiency of the near-field light generating element.

SOLUTION: The near-field light generating element has an optically transparent triangular pyramid 402 and a light intercepting film 403 covering the pyramid 402. An exposed portion 404 of the pyramid is formed by removing the light intercepting film 403 covering a part of tilting surfaces of the pyramid 402 including its apex. And then, a metallic film 405 is formed over the light intercepting film 403 and the exposed portion 404 of the pyramid. As a result, the near-field light generating element has the configuration that the pyramid 402 comes into contact with the metallic film 405 via the exposed portion 404 of the pyramid.
