PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper in which the peeling of a fastening tape substrate from a top sheet or back sheet can be prevented by increasing the strength of adhesion of the base-side end section of the substrate, and to provide a method of fixing the fastening tape substrate. SOLUTION: The top sheet 11, back sheet 12, and fastening tape substrate 13 attached to both backside side edge sections 2 of the disposable diaper 1 in a laterally protruded state constituting the disposable diaper 1 respectively have embossed surfaces 11a, 12a, and 13a and horizontal flat surfaces 11b, 12b, and 13b on the opposite sides of the embossed surfaces 11a, 12a, and 13a. The fastening tape substrate 13 is fixed by interposing the base-side end section of the substrate 13 between the top and back sheets 11 and 12 disposed so that their flat surfaces 11b and 12b may face each other.
