<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for inspecting foreign substance for accurately detecting opaque foreign substances, regardless of the shape or the state near the bottom of a container, in comparison with conventional apparatuses. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus for inspecting foreign substance, an image as viewed from the bottom 2a of the container 2, having permeability and formed as a cylinder body with the bottom, is obtained, and the existence of the opaque foreign substances in the container is inspected, based on the image.
