PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white line compensation apparatus for an ink-jet printer and its controlling method that can improve printing quality by preventing occurrence of white line which is caused by disappearance of the vertical feeding force generated in a pick-up roller upon ink-jet printer printing, by loosening of the paper tension which is caused at the moment when the rear end of the paper comes off from the pick-up roller. SOLUTION: The white line compensation apparatus for an ink-jet printer includes: a driving member which carries out printing by a predetermined width by, according to controlling signals, rotating rollers for conveying the paper and driving an ink cartridge; a memory for storing the data of over-feed and over-feed position of the paper; and a controlling member which outputs controlling signals to the driving member such that the paper is sequentially fed by the predetermined width, determines the over-feed and over-feed position of that paper type by using the data of the over-feed and over-feed position stored in the memory, and outputs controlling signals when it is ascertained to be at a line of the printing position right before the over-feed position such that printing is carried out by use of dummy nozzles corresponding to the over-feed together with the nozzles corresponding to the predetermined printing width.
