PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential pressure expansion valve having the excellent responsiveness of flow to differential pressure, allowing the compact arrangement thereof in a refrigerating cycle, and preventing a valve element from being vibrated during the operation. SOLUTION: An inflow port 11 is formed at one end of a valve body 10, and an outflow port 42 is formed at the other end through a joint 40. The valve body 10 comprises the valve element 20 having a restriction part 21 controlling refrigerant flow according to the differential pressure and a spring 30 setting the differential pressure. A spring receiving part 44 receiving the spring 30 and an orifice hole 41 adiabatically expanding refrigerant are formed in the joint 40. The upper surface cross section of the valve element is formed in an approximately square shape, and the rounded corner parts thereof are guided by a valve guide part 13.
