<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing device inexpensively and simply manufacturable and capable of responding to a requirement such as a request for thinning it or the like. <P>SOLUTION: This pointing device is equipped with an actuator having a projecting spherical resistance surface which rolls on a conductive layer by operating an input operating part provided in its upper part, a flexible thin-walled part supported so that the input operating part can be freely oscillated, and a switch member having a base part to support the actuator through the thin-walled part, and is structured so that the positional data of the input operating part is read by using electrical characteristics produced by rolling of the resistance surface on the conductive layer. It has at least two pairs of electrode pairs to apply a voltage to the resistance surface from at least two perpendicularly crossing directions in the periphery of the conductive layer. A circuit pattern to apply a voltage from the outside is connected to the conductive layer and the electrode pairs, and the conductive layer, the electrode pairs and the circuit pattern have a first conductive layer printed on the upper surface of a resin film whereon the switch member is mounted, and a second conductive layer to coat the first conductive layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
