PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition and a resin material for a sliding section that can reduce the friction increase at a high bearing pressure and a high rotation speed, while maintaining a required strength and friction resistance, and to provide a sliding member and valve lifter for an internal-combustion engine using them. SOLUTION: This thermoplastic resin composition comprises 5-20 parts by mass of a fluororesin wherein at least part of the carbon atoms constituting the molecular chain of the fluororesin has a crosslinked structure with another carbon atom constituting the molecular chain, and at least part of the fluororesin molecules have an active end group, 85-40 parts by mass of another thermoplastic resin having a reaction point that can bond to the fluororesin having an active end group, and 10-40 parts by mass of a carbon fiber.
