PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost portable cutting tool showing efficient workability. SOLUTION: This portable motor-driven cutting tool is equipped with a main body incorporating an electric motor, a motor-driven saw blade which is supported in a freely rotatable fashion and driven to rotate, a saw cover of a shape to cover a part of the saw blade installed in the main body, a base which is slidable over the upper surface of a material to be cut during a cutting operation and a protecting cover which is rotatably mounted in the main body and so shaped as to cover a part of the outer periphery of the saw blade protruding from the base surface of the base.
