A molecular chemical compound comprises electron donor group, electron acceptor group, and conjugated bridging element. The electron donor group and electron acceptor group linked to each other via the conjugated bridging element. The chemical compound has a readily displaceable electron. It is capable of emitting photoluminescent radiation. A dipole character is present only in the excited state. An independent claim is also included for a photoluminescence-quenching device (11) comprising molecular chemical compound.
