A lighting system comprises one or more lighting elements 8, (eg LED's) which are hermetically encapsulated in a light-transmissive material. The lighting elements may be in the shape of bricks or paving stones and may be switched automatically in response to changes in ambient lighting conditions or the presence of hot bodies. The lighting system may be an architectural lighting system and may be available as a kit of parts. |
