<p>The device has extended application for displaying different information, its information capacity and operative time have been extended and its supply consumption has been reduced. The device comprises a light-guide element (1, 2), made of optically transparent material having at least two polished surfaces faced to one another, whereby at least one surface contains at least one gravure forming a diffuse reflecting character (3) and a light source arranged close to the light-guide element to illuminate said character (3). Solid semi-conductor diodes arranged in groups (5, 6) can be used as directed light sources for the device, the operation of which is controlled by an electronic programmable unit (7).
