METHOD FOR PREPARING POUR POINT DEPRESSANT FOR DIESEL FUEL

PURPOSE: Provided are a method for preparing a pour point depressant for diesel fuel of a maleic anhydride polyacrylate olefin copolymer and a pour point depressant for diesel fuel prepared thereby, which lowers the wax-forming temperature by lowering the pour point of the diesel fuel. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of (a) mixing 1 mole of a primary alcohol having a C16-18 olefin chain, toluene and 0.04 wt.% of catechol; (b) stirring the mixture of the step (a) at a constant temperature to a uniform state; (c) adding 4 moles of an acrylic acid and 1 wt.% of toluene sulfonic acid to the mixture of the step (b); (d) heating the mixture of the step (c) to 120 °C for 2 hours; and (e) polymerizing the product of the step (d) and a maleic anhydride.
