The mortise lock has a spring bolt (5) which is retracted by a plastics press follower (7). An arm (17) at a spring bolt tail (5'') grips the follower. A hub (19) is fitted with an opening (31) to take the follower, with rotation between the lock base plate (3) and the lock cover plate. A rim (20) is concentric around the hub, with a gap between them to carry the follower arm, linked to the hub by spokes (25) at a tangent to the hub. The spring bolt and a locking bolt (6) are of plastics.
