PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling system of a generator having an internal combustion engine and a cooling method of the generator having the internal combustion engine for reducing cost required for cooling by providing stable cooling by cooling according to an electric power load. SOLUTION: This cooling system has a prime mover 25 for driving the generator 13, a first radiator 29 and a second radiator 30 for cooling cooling water of the prime mover 25. A first circulating circuit A and a second circulating circuit B are arranged between the first radiator 29, the second radiator 30 and the prime mover 25, and a solenoid opening-closing valve 31 is arranged in the second circulating circuit B of the second radiator 30 for adjusting a flow rate of engine cooling water of the second radiator 30. A second electric power estimating device is arranged for estimating generating electric power of the generator 13, and the solenoid opening-closing valve 31 is controlled for opening-closing according to the generating electric power of the generator 13 estimated by the second electric power estimating device.
