In a fuel pump unit, a motor housing (6) is installed on a base bracket (2), a motor rotor (8) is received in the housing, and a brush holder (9) is axially fitted in the housing to cover it. At the brush holder (9) are arranged a motor shaft (8a) opened in the fitting direction, a brush fix portion (9f), and a communication hole (9d). A motor portion (M) constructed as described above is covered by a pump unit casing (15) fixed on the outer periphery of the base bracket (2) and coaxially extended with the base bracket. The upper part of the pump unit casing is covered by an outlet cover (11) with a discharge opening (11a). A radially continuous gap is provided between the brush holder (9) and the outlet holder, forming a filtration-side communication flow passage (f2).
