<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and correctly eject and sort sheets for each set by an inexpensive structure without requiring a sorting space dedicated for sorting with insert sheets. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: two or more feed parts 1 and 4; an image forming part 2 which forms images on sheets fed from the feed parts 1 and 4; and sheet surface roughness detection sensors 101 and 102 which detect the surface conditions of sheets stacked on the feed parts 1 and 4. The image forming part 2 has a fixing part 7 which thermally fixes unfixed toner images to the sheets. The image forming apparatus also includes an ejection tray 754 on which the sheets are ejected. In the image forming apparatus, when ejection sorting by insertion of insert sheets is set, sheet processing output is started or finished based upon a signal indicating that an output of one specific sheet or a specific set of sheets is started or finished. Before the start of the sheet processing output or after the finish of the sheet processing output, a fixing cleaning sheet is fed to the image forming part 2 from the feed part which stores the fixing cleaning sheets determined by the detection sensors 101 and 102. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
