PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stair and slope ascending/descending device capable of stably traveling at a steep curve with a guide rail usable as a handrail. SOLUTION: This slope ascending/descending device 1 is constituted to support a traveling truck 2 put on guide rails 3, 4 provided along stairs or a slope, by rollers 23, 33 abutting on the guide rails 3, 4, to stretch a wire rope 6 formed in annular shape being connected to the traveling truck 2, through a driving device 7 and a turn-around device 8 arranged at the upper and lower sides of the stairs or slope respectively and a plurality of guide sheaves 55 provided at the intermediate parts of the stairs or slope, and to allow the traveling truck 2 to travel on the guide rails 3, 4 by feeding the wire rope 6 by the driving device 7. The rollers 23, 33 are provided at the traveling truck through steering mechanisms 21, 26 and 31, 36 so as to follow the inclinations and curve parts of the guide rails 3, 4.
