<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus by which printing is attained in a short time without having throughput down by reducing the occurrence of temperature rise at an end part at the time of performing fixing by feeding a small sized recording material in the image forming apparatus where a fixing device capable of performing on-demand fixing such as a film heating system is mounted as a fixing means 15. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus possessing an image formation means to form an unfixed toner image (t) on a recording material P and the fixing means 15 to heat and fix the unfixed toner image on the recording material and having a normal image forming sequence for performing image forming on the recording material and a cleaning sequence for performing the cleaning of the image formation means in a specified timing in accordance with image forming frequency separately from the image forming sequence, the temperature controlling means of the fixing means 15 controls the temperature of the fixing means during operation in the cleaning sequence lower than that of the fixing means during operation in the image forming sequence. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
