<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight soil mat excellent in fertilizer effect, well mixed with soil, having necessary and sufficient strength while being lightweight and excellent in balance of air permeability, drainage and water retainability, biodegradable so as to have no need of collection and thereby environmentally friendly, enhancing construction properties and workability, and also having good transportability; and to provide nursery soil using the mat. <P>SOLUTION: The lightweight soil mat comprises animal hair fiber and a thermoplastic biodegradable composition. The mat is provided with a plurality of cut parts.
