The switching device (10) comprises a casing (12) delimiting a housing (22) having a base (24) provided externally with connection terminals for the electrical connection of the switching device, an operating member (14), a switching mechanism (16) disposed in the casing (12), a light source (18) carried by the said casing (12), and conductive areas (40) for the connection of the light source (18), which areas are provided in the casing (12). The said light source (18) comprises an SMC-type light-emitting diode (50) formed by a body (70) on one face of which at least two flat, conductive and coplanar connection plates (76) extend. Each connection member comprises a connection pin (52) which is welded, at a first end (80), to a connection plate (76) of the casing and is connected, at its second end, to a connection area (40) of the casing.
