PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain images easy to observe when panning and tilting a pair of binoculars incorporating an image stabilizer. SOLUTION: The image stabilizer stabilizes the images by controlling the optical axis of the intermediate optical system and maintaining its attitude against the inertia. The stabilizer fixes the angle of the intermediate optical system when stabilizing the images, if it detects an instruction of the user to shift to panning/tilting or that the panning/tilting is already made.
