ENERGY ABSORBING STRUCTURE FOR VEHICLE BODY SIDE PART

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorbing structure of a vehicle body side part for improving occupant protecting effect in case of a side collision of a vehicle.

SOLUTION: This energy absorbing structure on the vehicle body side is provided with an airbag for restraining the occupant within a cabin by being inflated to the cabin side in the side collision of the vehicle 1. The airbag 9 is arranged longitudinally along a roof side rail part 1d located on an upper side part of the cabin. An inflator 6 for jetting gas is arranged along a pillar part 1e extending downward from the roof side rail part. The inflator and the airbag are connected by a gas conduit tube 23. The gas jetted by the inflator is supplied to the airbag through the gas conduit tube to inflate the airbag.
