<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a door drive for an automatic ticket gate wherein, because of a vertically oriented door shaft and a horizontally oriented motor shaft, a power transmission system becomes complex, increasing the cost of the door drive. <P>SOLUTION: The motor shaft 47 of a motor 32 is disposed parallel to the door shaft 24 and a belt transmission mechanism 40 whose timing belt 43 extends perpendicular to the door shaft 42 is included in a power transmission mechanism which connects the motor shaft 47 to the door shaft 24. Because the motor shaft is disposed parallel to the door shaft, both the motor shaft and the door shaft can be connected together by the simple belt transmission mechanism to reduce the cost of parts of the power transmission system. Further, the motor shaft and the door shaft disposed parallel to each other are connected together by the belt transmission mechanism. The belt transmission mechanism comprises a pair of pulleys and the timing belt stretched between the pulleys and is capable of operating unlubricated.
