PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the lightness of a digital image without losing the saturation of the color. SOLUTION: A lightness change degree calculation section 52b calculates the lightness revision degree DL of each pixel of an image in response to a lightness instruction value designated by a parameter designation section 52a on the basis of a 'lightness' slider bar provided in a dialog box for setting a light emission effect. Then the lightness change degree calculation section 52b calculates the saturation change degree SD of each pixel of the image on the basis of the lightness change degree DL. Then a color change section 52d corrects the color of each pixel of the image on the basis of the lightness change degree DL and the saturation change degree SD.
