The invention provides a gardening implement comprising two blades 21,22, each blade being pivotally mounted on a mounting member (fig 1 11,12), and having an engagement portion at a lower end thereof. The implement further includes two actuation members 31,32, each actuation member being connected to a respective handle portion 41,42 and being pivotally mounted on the mounting member (fig 1 11,12). Each actuation member 41,42 has an engagement portion at an upper end thereof, each actuation member 41,42 engagement portion (fig 1 35,36) being intermeshed with a respective one of the blade engagement portions (fig 1, 25,26) such that movement of the handle portions towards each other results in pivoting of the actuation members 41,42 on the mounting member 31,32 which, as a result of the meshed cooperation between the actuation member 41,42 and blade engagement portions, causes pivoting of the blades 21,22 towards each other in a cutting action. |
