METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SPEED TO IMPROVE DATA READ OF OPTICAL DISK AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: A method for controlling a speed to improve a data read of an optical disk and a device therefor are provided to check a disk state while rotating a spindle motor without other operation by using features of a power mode, thereby minimizing time for changing a speed by a speed up/down algorithm while reading data of a disk. CONSTITUTION: A system reads a sub code recorded on a disk, and checks a minimal LBA(Logic Block Address) and a maximum LBA(310). The system determines areas to be checked within a disk recording section at certain intervals(320). The system samples recording areas to be checked at certain intervals on the disk, and reads the sampled recording areas(330). The system checks a state of a signal read from a predetermined checked area of the disk(340). The system sets a maximum speed for the corresponding area according to the checked state of the signal(350).
