PURPOSE: An image display device is provided to reduce flicker disturbance due to a refresh rate of an input signal while suppressing increase in manufacturing costs and to perform display at a display refresh rate higher than that of the input signal. CONSTITUTION: An image display device includes a plurality of display elements, a plurality of scanning interconnection, a plurality of modulation interconnection, a scanning circuit(104), an image signal generation circuit(102), and a modulation circuit. The scanning circuit applies a scanning signal to the scanning interconnection, and sequentially switches the scanning interconnection to which the scanning signal is applied. The image signal generating circuit generates an image signal performing screen display at a frequency Fb Hz based on an input image signal having a predetermined refresh rate Fa Hz. Fb Hz is higher than Fa Hz. The scanning circuit applies the scanning signal to the scanning interconnections such that Tb is smaller than n/((1/Fb)-Tb), where n (n>= 2) is the number of the scanning interconnections and Tb is a non-display period. |
