The box (10) has a set of inputs (E1-EJ) connected to an electrical supply unit and a set of outputs (S1-SJ) connected to loads of a brake system. A diagnostic unit is inserted between the inputs and the outputs, and detects the defects in the supply of loads. A set of additional inputs (I1-I3) determines the intention of a driver of a vehicle to brake in order to operate the diagnostic unit. An Independent claim is also included for a system of controlling the function of a brake system having an electrical energy distribution box.
