Liquid crystal display with double super twisted nematic cells controlled by adjustable control voltage to provide white image against dark background

摘要

Display has double STN cell, formed by two super twisted nematic cells (1,2), and has steep increase of transmission curve in blue range of light spectrum. Electrodes (6,7) on first cell (1) are fed by adjustable high voltage that causes complete switch of liquid crystal substance helix. Light source (13) e.g. LED or UVLED provides white light with blue portion. An Independent claim is included for a first fluorescent material made of phosphor mixture.
