PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane elastic fiber paper tube keeping stable thread gripping force, regardless of kinds of polyurethane elastic fiber. SOLUTION: A thread stopping groove 2 is peripherally provided on a surface of a longitudinal direction center portion of a paper tube 1. The paper tube 1 is made by winding board, kraft, and the like in a multi-layer, and by winding waterproof paper, oil resisting paper, colored paper, and composite paper as a surface layer and an inner layer in a single layer or a multi-layer. A cross-section of the thread stopping groove 2 when the paper tube 1 is cut in a longitudinal direction is formed in a generally V-shape, and composed of a thread guiding groove 3 with a gentle tilting angle and a thread gripping groove 4 with a sharp tilting angle reaching a bottom of the thread stopping groove 2.
