PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new transition metal complex having no metallocene skeleton; and to provide a production method for an olefin polymer by using the same. SOLUTION: The transition metal complex is obtained by reacting a substituted benzene represented by formula (1) (in formula (1), A is a group 16 element; B1is a group 15 element excluding nitrogen; B2and B3are each a group 15 element; R1-R12are each hydrogen, a halogen, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, hydrocarbon-substituted silyl, alkoxy, aralkyloxy, aryloxy or hydrocarbon disubstituted amino) with a transition metal compound represented by formula (2) (in formula (2), M is a transition metal; X1, X2and X3are each hydrogen, a halogen, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, hydrocarbon-substituted silyl, alkoxy, aralkyloxy, aryloxy or hydrocarbon disubstituted amino; L is a neutral ligand expressed by any one of an ether, sulfide, amine, phosphine and olefin; and (l), (m) and (n) are each independently an integer of 0-2).
