PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the use of a dialkyl sulfone, methylsulfonylmethane in details, to a nail care composition such as a nail care enamel to promote or activate growth of the nail and enhance growth rate of the nail. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the use of at least one dialkyl sulfone of the formula (I), R<SB>1</SB>-SO<SB>2</SB>-R<SB>2</SB>, in which R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each, identical or different, represent a straight or branched alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, in a cosmetic composition, applied on the nails, to promote the growth of the nails.
