PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent a leak of a transfer current and more surely prevent transfer failure even in an image forming apparatus relatively small which uses an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: an image carrier; an image forming means which forms a toner image on the surface of the image carrier; an intermediate transfer device which is composed of at least one intermediate transfer body and on which a toner image is formed in contact with the image carrier; a final transfer body which is in contact with the intermediate transfer body in the final transfer position and finally transfers the toner image to a recording sheet conveyed; and at least one conveying member which is in contact with the recording sheet and conveys the recording sheet along a conveying path extending from a supply tray to an ejection tray via the final transfer position. The upstream and/or downstream conveying member relative to the final transfer position in the conveyance direction is electrically grounded via an impedance element. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
