An OFDM demodulation apparatus (1) includes a guard correlation/peak detection circuit (12) for generating the peak timing (Np) of guard interval correlation values, and also includes a timing synchronization circuit (13) for estimating, from the peak timing (Np), a symbol boundary timing (Nx). The timing synchronization circuit (13) uses a DLL (Delay Locked Loop) (43) to perform a filtering for the peak timing (Np), thereby calculating the symbol boundary timing (Nx). Additionally, the DLL (43) includes a limiter (52) for limiting the range of the phase error components and also includes an asymmetric gain circuit (53) for changing the magnitude of the gain in accordance with the polarity of the phase error, thereby preventing timing synchronism from being lost due to fading or multi-paths.
