摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal composition which is a nematic liquid crystal composition for TN (twisted nematic) mode or OCB (optically compensated bend) mode AM (active matrix)-LCD, keeps high voltage retention ratio, a low threshold value voltage, a high anisotropy value of dielectric constant and a high anisotropy value of refractive index even after the lapse of a long period of time. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition comprises at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by formula (1-1) and a compound represented by formula (1-2) as a first component, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by formula (2-1), a compound represented by formula (2-2) and a compound represented by formula (2-3) as a second component and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by formula (3) as a third component (R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each an alkyl; X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>are each hydrogen or fluorine; Y<SP>1</SP>is fluorine, OCF<SB>2</SB>H or OCF<SB>3</SB>; Y<SP>2</SP>is chlorine or fluorine; Z<SP>1</SP>is C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>or a single bond).
