PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a conveyance speed in an operation of back-feeding. SOLUTION: When an input section 28 is operated and a low acceleration mode is set, mode information indicative of the set mode is supplied to an EEPROM 33 to be stored. A CPU 21 instructs a motor control section 24 to gradually accelerate a printing medium to be in a predetermined reference conveyance speed based on the mode information stored in the EEPROM 33. The motor control section 24 that receives the instruction gradually accelerates the printing medium to be in the predetermined reference conveyance speed by controlling a stepping motor 7.
