DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE AND LIGHTING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device which prevents reduction in illuminance of a discharge lamp and allows proper discharge without reduction in illuminance irrespective of a temperature rise, and to provide a lighting system using the discharge lamp lighting device. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises: a discharge lamp driving circuit for lighting a discharge lamp 3 by driving it at high frequencies; a boosting chopper circuit for boosting an input power source voltage; a step-up transformer 2 for transmitting the voltage boosted by the boosting chopper circuit to the discharge lamp side; and a boosting drive circuit 5 for sending a driving signal to a switching element FET1 of the boosting chopper circuit so that the voltage boosted by the boosting chopper circuit becomes a predetermined level.
