<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a disulfone compound, a dienylsulfone compound, or a sulfone compound useful as a vitamin A intermediate. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the disulfone compound represented by formula (3) and/or the dienylsulfone compound represented by formula (4) and/or the sulfone compound represented by formlula (5) comprises reacting an allyl sulfone represented by formula (1) with an allyl halide represented by formula (2) in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide with a particle diameter of at most 3 mm and a phase transfer catalyst in an aromatic solvent. In formula (3), R<SP>1</SP>is hydrogen atom or a protective group for the hydroxyl group; Ar is an optionally substituted aryl group; and the wavy line indicates that the stereoisomerism due to the bonded double bonds is an E isomer, a Z isomer, or an E/Z mixture.
