PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump in which water droplets leaked from slide surfaces of a mechanical seal are prevented from infiltrating into a bearing. SOLUTION: In the water pump 10, an inner circumferential surface 13A of a cylindrical part 13 comprises a stepped recess formed of a large diameter portion 13c and a small diameter portion 13d. The mechanical seal 50 is fitted in the large diameter portion 13c, and an axial length of the large diameter portion is almost equal to or larger than a fitted length L of the mechanical seal 50. The small diameter portion 13d has an inner diameter smaller than an outer diameter 50a of the mechanical seal 50 and an axial length equal to or larger than a length from a side end 13e of the large diameter portion to a side end 13f of a pulley. A communication hole 27 is formed in a body 12 to communicate from a space between the small diameter portion 13d and the mechanical seal 50 with the outside more outward than an outer diameter of the bearing 14.
