<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus which increases the number of prints per unit time in the most efficient continuous photography while preventing trouble such as a lateral stripe from being formed on an image. <P>SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus has a photoreceptor 1, a plurality of developing units 7, 22-Y, M, and C which develop latent images formed on the photoreceptor, an intermediate transfer body 10 to which toner images of respective colors formed on the photoreceptor are primarily transferred, one over another, in order, a transfer member 14 for secondarily transferring the toner image on the intermediate transfer body onto transfer paper, and a cleaning member 16A for cleaning transfer-left toner on the intermediate transfer body.
