<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protective device for minimizing an increase in the cycle time of a vehicle, even if knees of an occupant of a front passenger seat can be protected, by arranging a housing box in front of the front passenger seat. <P>SOLUTION: This occupant protective device S1 has a knee protective air bag device 11 and the housing box 60. The air bag device 11 has an air bag 39 for protecting the knees K of the occupant M of the front passenger seat PS, an inflator 31, a case 12 for housing the air bag and the inflator and opening the vehicle rear side and an air bag cover 44. The box 60 has a box body 61 and a lid 73. The knee protective air bag device 11 and the housing box 60 are integrally installed in advance before being mounted to the vehicle, and a mounting assembly 10 is formed.
