<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the quick, easy and accurate determination of the species of Italian ryegrass as a substitute for the field study requiring labor and time. <P>SOLUTION: The oligonucleotide is found frequently in one or more species of Italian ryegrass. One or more species of Italian ryegrass comprising Minami Aoba, Nioudachi, Shiwasu Aoba, Wase Aoba and Wase Yutaka (these are Japanese registered species of Italian ryegrass) are discriminated by the existing frequency of the oligonucleotide. The species determination method comprises (a) a step of extracting the DNA of the Italian ryegrass and (b) a step of treating the DNA extracted by the step (a) with restriction enzymes, carry out a gene amplification reaction and examine the existing frequency of each oligonucleotide to determine the species. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
