PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video browsing system capable of managing the needs of user about video data and the percentage of completion of learning by each user using the video data by managing the extent of browsing of distributed video data by each user. SOLUTION: A program rating counter 22 of a browsing client 2 counts the extent of the video data reproduced and displayed on a screen 21 by a user out of the video data of contents distributed from a distribution server 1 and the browsing client 2 transmits extent information to the distribution server 1. The distribution server 1 uses a database 11 to manage the received browsing extent information in cross-reference with the contents and the user and provides the information to a management client 4, for its management information, including a user registration setting function 42 and a mail function 44 for creating electronic mail and transmitting the mail to the user. Further, the browsing client 2 provides a reproduction button 91 to the user whereby midway reproduction of video data can be attained by utilizing the counted extent information.
