The process involves measuring spatial parameters representative of a position of an aircraft (1) in flight, a distance between a camera and an overhanging face (6) and an orientation of a camera (10, 11) included in an imaging unit (18). The camera is oriented towards a part of the overhanging face to record picture for analyzation of the picture to return some visible characteristics. An Independent claim is also included for a system for returning visible characteristics of an overhanging face of a structure.
