PURPOSE: An artificial disc that is capable of adjusting distance between discs after operation is provided so that operations proper to the condition of the patient are possible. CONSTITUTION: The artificial disc comprises: a supporting part(A); and a circumferential extending part(B) connected to the supporting part(A), the circumferential extending part(B) composed of a plurality of individual plates(21). The supporting part(A) has a penetrating hole to the circumferential extending part(B) and the circumferential extending part(B) has opening parts(30) adjacent to the supporting part(A). The circumferential extending part(B) has a short slit(22) and a long slit(25) in its longitudinal direction. The circumferential extending part is possible to extend in circumferential direction by a bolt inserted through the bole of the supporting part(A).
