PURPOSE: An oxidoreductase for reducing 2-oxo acid ester to S-2-hydroxy acid ester is provided, thereby removing disadvantages of the prior art by reducing 2-oxo acid ester in the presence of NADPH and water to the corresponding S-2-hydroxy acid ester using oxidoreductase, and enantio-selectively preparing S-2-hydroxy acid ester with high enantio-isomer purity and higher yield. CONSTITUTION: The oxidoreductase reduces 2-oxo acid ester to the corresponding S-2-hydroxy acid ester, wherein the oxidoreductase is derived from Lactobacillus reuteri, L. Kefiri, L. kandleri, L. parabuchneri, L. cellobiosus or L. fermentum; the oxidoreductase has the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:18. A fragment of the oxidoreductase contains 5-30 amino acids from the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:18. A fusion protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:18 and is fused at the N-terminal or C-terminal of an additional peptide. An antibody specific for the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:18 or its fragments of SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:2. An isolated nucleic acid that encodes the oxidoreductase of SEQ ID NO:18 is provided. A cloning or expression vector that contains the nucleotide sequence encoding the oxidoreductase is provided. |
